Here's To Strong Women

International Women's Day happened this week and I've got to tell you, I am so damn proud to be a woman. I am, as always, so blown away by the strength and dignity of women. I'm enraptured by their enveloping softness and a unique still kind of power that moves mountains with subtlety and bears children through beautiful flashes of pain. Grateful for their resiliency and tenacity, unending nurturing and the ability to usher into the world new seasons. I'm astounded by the way we bend and do not break. How we evolve and step up when and where we're needed.

I've always been a feminist but the past couple of years have made me realize just how special it is to be part of a group of humans that value and respect each other. I've been standing up for myself in ways I never thought to before and am advocating tirelessly to create a world I am proud to raise a daughter in. I have been so moved and ignited by seeing powerful women take charge of their lives and make a stand for issues that are so very important to us all.

I've been thinking a lot recently about my digital footprint and the legacy I'm leaving by carving out space for myself in this online world. I don't want the only thing that I have made a stand for to be whether or not culottes are still in (in case you wondering, they are). As I get older and life happens all around me, I'm acutely aware of my priorities and the importance of transparency and radical openness. I'm intrigued by the way that raw moments aren't often as celebrated as the curated facades we put out into the universe. I'm inspired by the opportunity to explore all of this together freely.

So, during this very special week, here's to strong women: May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.
