Make It: Pom Pom Magnets

"let them be little" print available in the print shop!

We have a thing for magnets in this house (see the DIY for those fun metallic alphabet magnets here). They're a great, quiet activity for Lorelai to rearrange while I'm cooking and they allow me to test out prints before I'm done rendering them for City Paperie. While we've been obsessed with our shiny letters lately, I've found that they aren't very strong and we needed a few more sturdy options on our fridge. Enter pom-pom magnets.

I'm a firm believer in this quote...

... and thought our house was definitely lacking a few poms.

Interesting in making your own? Here's what you'll need:

  • yarn (any color you like)
  • round magnets (you can find them at the craft store)
  • fork
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun + glue sticks
  • this tutorial for making mini pom-poms

happy pom-pomming!

DIY Metallic Alphabet Magnets

"Influential" Print via A Beautiful Rawr

Sometimes it's hard to find beautiful things for little ones! Since Lorelai has been working on learning her ABC's lately, we had a ton of these colorful plastic alphabet magnets littering our refrigerator. While I'm all for smart play and listening to Lo recite "double-oo ex" while I prepare dinner each night melts my heart, I'm not the biggest fan of loud colors or tacky toys. Enter a little inspiration from Pinterest, a few coats of my favorite metallic spray paint (don't forget to spray from every angle so you coat the entire letter) and we now have a few sets of shiny magnets that are perfect for practicing our ABCs AND leaving Mr. Jackson sweet notes in the morning.

p.s. How fun is this print?! I won a giveaway on Linh's blog a while ago and was so excited to add it to my workspace.

Tartan Tales

By now, I know you've seen the gorgeous Zara scarves making their rounds on all of our favorite bloggers ( here, here & here). Tartan seems to be everywhere this winter and I'm loving  it! Rather than placing an order online for this scarf (I'm obsessed!), I decided to save a little cash for Christmas presents and borrow this cozy version from Lorelai's closet. You gotta love it when you can share closets with a two year old!

p.s. See my DIY embellished gloves from earlier in the week? I'm obsessed with the little bit of sparkle they give every outfit!
